In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been a lot of discussion on the pro’s and con’s of the vinyl boom recently. A lot of this stems from the strain on the medium; no new technology being developed and every plant in the world operating at maximum capacity in order to fulfill demand.

Since 2010 we’ve been releasing the majority of our albums on vinyl and maintaining a standard of quality that we believe is amongst the best in the country. This includes specialty mastering, lacquer cutting with the legendary Paul Gold, heavyweight pressings, and particular care towards presentation of jackets, inserts, and download postcards.

We believe that having an analogue, physical medium for our music is important in the digital age. However, it’s becoming harder and harder to ensure quality control and as such, we’ve had to delay the LP release of a few of our recent records in order to maintain a high standard of audio quality. This means rejecting test pressings and going back to redo the process, sometimes up to four times for a single record. In addition, the recent closing of Canada’s only pressing plant meant we’ve had to move our business to the USA which has increased costs significantly due to our weak dollar, import fees, and higher shipping rates.

With all this in mind, we’ve had to raise the price of our LPs by a few dollars to ensure we break even. We understand that it’s already quite expensive to order, especially with Canada’s insanely-high shipping rates for these packages, so we’ve implemented optional pick-up/delivery within Halifax and urge you to order the records from your local record store in order to save money.
