“Beau et déstabilisant” – Le Devoir
“Stunning and futuristic” – Broadway World

To coincide with the release of his new album Desiderata, released in partnership with Joyful Noise Records, Canadian composer/songwriter Ben Shemie shared an incredible animated video created by Montreal-based artist Brandon Blommaert for two of the album tracks.

“While Shemie’s image of a faraway universe is equal parts inspiring and chaotic, he assures the listener – everything and everyone is exactly as it should.” – Circuit Sweet

“The Mirror and the Future Indefinite is a double video,” explains Shemie. “The Mirror, a super minimal lyrical left field pop tune establishes a narrative thread. It then transitions into The Future Indefinite, a long linear instrumental jam that showcases a string quartet over an electro drone. The video is a morphing riff – a sort of cockpit view that is looking at the universe from very very far away, or extremely close up. Needless to say, the coordinates on the left side of the video climb to infinity, and never reveal our true location. Like the songs, its a wash of double entendres and psychedelic references and is a nod to my live set. It was all recorded live and thus its a long musical plane, visualized here in this insane video.”
