Joshua Van Tassel returns with his most ambitious project yet, a 40-page hardcover book to accompany nine pieces of new music. Crossworlds is a concept album to serve as a score for the tale of an old woman who is left to defend her small island from a force not of this world.

Each piece was carefully composed to be the score to a classic Maritime sea monster tale with a science fiction twist. Combining underwater field recordings from Newfoundland, brand new instruments created at the National Music Centre, orchestral strings, and some of the country’s best session musicians,Crossworlds is an entirely unique and exciting project on the Canadian contemporary music scene. The book is written by Jordan Crute and Van Tassel, featuring illustrations by Geordan Moore.
